Guterres: The Security Council must reflect today’s world
New York, February 14 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the lack of permanent membership for African countries in the Security Council as an indefensible situation.
UN Secretary-General Guterres stated that it is indefensible that African countries do not have permanent membership in the Security Council.
Emphasizing that the Security Council must reflect today’s world, Guterres said, “It is 2026, not 1946. When decisions concerning Africa and the world are on the agenda, Africa must also be at the table.”
