Guterres: Access must be ensured for the safe delivery of humanitarian aid
New York, Jan. 30 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he is deeply concerned about the continued escalation of violence in South Sudan, particularly in Jonglei state, which has recently led to many deaths, injuries and displacements.

Stressing that civilians must be protected, Guterres noted that access must be ensured for the safe delivery of humanitarian aid.
Guterres said: “I call on the Government of South Sudan and opposition forces to immediately cease all military operations and de-escalate the situation through inclusive dialogue.”
