European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos issued a message on the occasion of the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide.

Kos stated that healing the wounds of the past requires courage, sincere dialogue, and a genuine commitment to reconciliation, stressing that responsibility must take precedence over division and dialogue over conflict. She also highlighted the importance of supporting efforts to locate missing victims and identify their remains.

Emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina's progress toward European Union membership is the best way to build a sovereign, united, multi-ethnic, and democratic country, Kos said this would also lay the foundations for a society based on pluralism, mutual respect, and equal opportunities.
