Shanghai, July 17 (Hibya) - Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai together with the Pakistani delegation.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the ceremony.
The statement came following the establishment of WAICO after its founding member states, including Pakistan, signed the agreement a day earlier.
The ministry emphasized Pakistan's support for inclusive and equitable global AI governance, calling for stronger international cooperation to expand developing countries' access to emerging technologies, strengthen capacity-building efforts, and bridge the digital divide.
Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it aims to ensure the benefits of artificial intelligence are shared by all countries and societies.
