CENTCOM Commander Cooper stated that Tangsiri had commanded the IRGC Navy for eight years, during which the Iranian Navy targeted numerous commercial vessels and carried out hundreds of drone and missile attacks.

He also noted that Tangsiri had been designated a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” by the U.S. Treasury Department in June 2019 and was subjected to additional sanctions in 2024 due to drone development activities.

According to the CENTCOM statement, within the scope of “Operation Epic Fury,” 92 percent of the large vessels in the Iranian Navy were destroyed, and the IRGC Navy lost its ability to project power in the Middle East and globally.

The statement also called on IRGC Navy personnel to abandon their duties and return to their homes.

CENTCOM reported that military operations against the IRGC Navy will continue.
