Budrys: The line between terrorism and Russia's hybrid warfare is not clear
Vilnius, October 20 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys stated that Europe needs to take tougher measures against sabotage, violence and cyberattacks.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys met with B. Wegter to discuss the European Union's counterterrorism efforts and Lithuania's upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Budrys stated that Europe cannot act as though there is a clear distinction between terrorism and Russia's hybrid warfare. He argued that sabotage, violence, cyberattacks and covert operations are not isolated incidents, but part of a coordinated campaign aimed at intimidating democracies and weakening support for Ukraine.
Emphasizing that Europe must identify, expose and dismantle the networks behind these attacks, Budrys called for faster identification of those responsible, tougher measures and increased pressure on those who plan, finance and carry out political violence.
Budrys stated that deterrence begins with accountability.
