Brekelmans: Willemstad crew made a significant contribution to NATO security
Amsterdam, 28 November (Hibya) – Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans expressed his great appreciation for the crew of the Zr. Ms. Willemstad for their outstanding service.
According to Minister Brekelmans, the crew successfully carried out the mission of protecting underwater cables and pipelines in the Eastern and North Seas against the risk of sabotage.
Brekelmans noted that a total of 12 naval mines were neutralized during the mission, emphasizing that this operation made an important contribution to Europe’s security within the NATO cooperation framework.
He concluded his statement by saying, “We are grateful for their valuable contribution to our security. Welcome back!”
