Brekelmans: The sacrifices of Uruzgan veterans deserve every appreciation
Amsterdam, February 2 (Hibya) – Dutch Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans made a statement on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the House of Representatives approving the deployment of a military mission to Afghanistan’s Uruzgan region.
Dutch Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans commemorated the Uruzgan veterans in a message he published.
Referring to the contributions of the soldiers during their mission, Brekelmans said: “It has been exactly 20 years since the House of Representatives approved the deployment of a military mission to Uruzgan. Thousands of soldiers served in Afghanistan, including on the front lines.”
Emphasizing the soldiers who lost their lives or were wounded during the mission, Brekelmans stated: “Twenty-five did not return, and many were wounded. Their courage and sacrifices deserve every appreciation, even after 20 years.”
