Araghchi held a phone call with his British counterpart Cooper
Tehran, January 12 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
During the phone call with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi made remarks on the security of diplomatic missions and activities carried out through the media.
Recalling the United Kingdom’s legal responsibilities, Araghchi said: “I clearly stated that, under its international legal obligations, the United Kingdom is required to ensure the security of Iran’s Consulate and Embassy in London. If the UK fails to fulfill its duty to protect diplomatic missions, Iran will have no option but to consider evacuating our personnel.”
Criticizing the UK for inaction against terror-related activities, Araghchi added: “I called on the United Kingdom to refrain from interfering in Iran’s internal affairs by ceasing to avoid taking action against Israel-backed terrorists operating under the guise of media outlets.”
Emphasizing that the UK must enforce its own regulations, Minister Araghchi said: “Ofcom has clear rules and regulations regarding incitement to violence and the glorification of terrorism. The UK government must take action to ensure the enforcement of its domestic law.”
