Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali visited the Ethiopian Nuclear Energy Commission, which holds strategic importance for the country's long-term development goals.

In a social media statement about his visit, Ahmed said Ethiopia aimed to transform its potential and natural resources into tangible development initiatives, technological progress and shared prosperity.

Emphasizing that reliable and sustainable energy is essential for industrialization, manufacturing, digital infrastructure and economic transformation, Ahmed said, "Nuclear technology offers a significant opportunity to strengthen energy security while contributing to progress in healthcare, agriculture, industry and environmental protection."

Ahmed noted that the Ethiopian Nuclear Energy Commission plays an important role in establishing the institutional and technical foundations of the country's national nuclear energy program. He highlighted the importance of developing a skilled workforce, advancing scientific research and passing knowledge on to future generations to ensure the peaceful, safe, responsible and sustainable development of nuclear energy.
