Airstrike hits market in Yemen
Sanaa, November 7 (Hibya) – At least 30 people were killed and 8 others injured in an attack on a crowded market in Taiz province, southwestern Yemen, on Friday.
According to CCTV, a crowded market in Taiz province in southwestern Yemen was attacked on Friday. At least 30 people were reportedly killed and 8 others injured in the attack.
The attack consisted of three Saudi airstrikes targeting the Al-Hadara public market in the Al-Waziya district of Taiz, which was crowded with shoppers during the morning hours. Search and rescue teams said the death toll could rise as efforts continued to reach people trapped beneath the rubble.
Meanwhile, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the attack had been carried out by Saudi warplanes and declared that what he described as a "massacre" would not go unanswered. However, the local authorities in Taiz, affiliated with Yemen's internationally recognized government, blamed the Houthis for the attack and called for an independent technical investigation to identify those responsible.
Houthi military spokesperson Saree also claimed in a statement posted on social media that Saudi warplanes and missiles had carried out 67 attacks across five Yemeni provinces over the past 24 hours.
