10 killed in school shooting in Canada
Stockholm, February 11 (Hibya) - In a mass shooting that took place in rural Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, 10 people were killed, including nine victims and one suspect. Six people were found dead at Tumbler Ridge High School, one died en route to the hospital, and two others were found dead in a house.
Police officials believe they have identified the attacker but said they would "struggle to determine the cause" of the incident, which has become one of the deadliest school shootings in Canadian history.
Meanwhile, according to the police statement, about 25 people are being treated or examined at a local health center due to their injuries. Two others were airlifted to hospitals with serious or life-threatening injuries. The death toll may rise.
The shooting at a small rural school is the second deadliest school shooting in Canadian history, following the massacre at L’École Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6, 1989, which led to 14 deaths.
On January 22, 2016, five people were killed in a series of shootings in La Loche, Saskatchewan, two of them at a community school.
