Von der Leyen’s congratulatory message to Alexander De Croo
Brussels, 17 November (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated former Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo on his appointment as Executive Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
In a statement shared on social media, von der Leyen emphasized that De Croo’s assumption of office comes at a critical moment for the UN system. She stated, “Your leadership is of great importance at a time when the UN structure needs ambitious reform.”
The Commission President expressed her belief that the partnership between the European Union and UNDP will further strengthen, particularly within the framework of the Global Gateway initiative.
