Istanbul, July 28 (Hibya) - U.S. stock markets ended the first trading session of the week with mixed results. Industrial and small-cap stocks posted gains, while technology-heavy indexes came under selling pressure.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 262.83 points at 52,210.08, gaining 0.51 percent. The broad-based S&P 500 Index edged up 0.02 percent to 7,413.18.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 0.18 percent to 24,932.08, while the Nasdaq 100 Index lost 0.32 percent to close at 28,039.21.
The Russell 2000 Index, which tracks small-cap companies, rose 0.62 percent to 2,948.04.
Investors continued to monitor corporate earnings, economic data and expectations regarding the U.S. Federal Reserve's (Fed) monetary policy. Selling in technology stocks weighed on the Nasdaq indexes, while industrial and small-cap shares helped other major indexes outperform.
