Trump: We have talks and we will have everything we want
Washington, Jan. 25 (Hibya) – United States (US) President Donald Trump said that the United States would gain sovereignty over the area in Greenland where US military bases are located.
According to CCTV, in an interview published by the New York Post on Saturday, US President Donald Trump said, “We have some interesting talks ongoing, and we will have everything we want.”
Speaking on Wednesday at the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Trump ruled out the possibility of using military force to obtain Greenland and stated that his talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte form the framework of a possible future agreement on Greenland and the wider Arctic region.
Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said in a statement on Thursday that sovereignty remains a red line for his government, stressing that he is not aware of the specific details of this framework.
Nielsen stated that no one other than Greenland and Denmark can make agreements concerning Greenland and Denmark.
