Trump signs executive order restricting corporate investors from buying single-family homes
Washington, January 21 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order restricting large institutional investors from purchasing single-family homes, aiming to help improve housing affordability.
In the order, Trump said: “My administration will take decisive steps to stop Wall Street from viewing America’s neighborhoods like a shopping mall and to ensure that American families can become homeowners.”
He added: “To preserve the supply of single-family homes for American families and expand pathways to homeownership, it is the policy of my administration that large institutional investors should not purchase single-family homes that could otherwise be bought by families.”
Trump instructed federal agencies to prevent measures that facilitate the sale of single-family homes to large institutional investors and instead to encourage sales to individual buyers.
The order also prevents agencies from selling federally owned housing to large institutional investors.
