Starmer: Russia’s attacks on Kyiv are unacceptable
London, 16 June (Hibya) - UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer described Russia’s attacks on Kyiv as “unacceptable” and announced new sanctions targeting Russia’s war economy.
Starmer, commenting on attacks on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, said Russia’s strikes against civilians were “horrifying”.
He stated that new sanctions had been introduced following the attacks, targeting vessels, financial resources, and actors supporting Russia’s war economy.
Starmer stressed that the sanctions are a step against threats to European security and said pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and his circle would be increased.
He also noted that international pressure will continue in order to weaken Russia’s military capacity and achieve lasting peace in Europe.
