Pezeshkian: Universities should focus on competence and problem-solving
Tehran, 17 November (Hibya) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that it is unacceptable for universities to become institutions that merely issue diplomas, calling for a return to an education model centered on competence and problem-solving.
Pezeshkian, recalling the example of Payam Noor University, noted that the university initially aimed to provide services and skill development during the educational process, but has now turned into an institution that only grants diplomas.
He emphasized that the government must redirect universities toward an education approach focused on skills and problem-solving. The President stressed that using resources solely for “diploma production” is unacceptable and highlighted the importance of consolidating existing capacity and reforming static structures.
