Pakistan and Tajikistan pledge to expand cooperation
Cholpon-Ata, July 25 (Hibya) – Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, where they reviewed bilateral relations and regional developments.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting, held on the margins of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, reaffirmed the deep-rooted and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
The statement said that both countries expressed their shared determination to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, transport connectivity, energy, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The two sides also stressed the importance of maintaining high-level contacts to reinforce their bilateral partnership.
The statement added that Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin expressed support for Pakistan's efforts to promote peace, stability, and the peaceful resolution of regional issues. The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and global developments and emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation on multilateral platforms.
