Orban: Brussels’ war logic is not slowing down, it is becoming institutionalized
Budapest, December 20 (Hibya) – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban described it as a qualitative shift that, for the first time in the history of the European Union, 24 member states have granted a joint war loan to a country outside the EU.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban commented on the decision by 24 EU member states to jointly provide a war loan to a country outside the Union for the first time.
Stressing that this step is not a simple technical detail, Orban said: “For the first time in the history of the European Union, 24 member states have jointly granted a war loan to a country outside the Union. This is not a technical detail but a qualitative change. The logic of the loan is clear: whoever lends money wants to get it back. In this case, repayment depends not on economic growth or stability, but on military victory.”
Pointing out that Russia would have to be defeated for the loan to be repaid, Orban stated: “This is not the logic of peace, but the logic of war. A war loan inevitably pushes its financiers to be interested in the continuation and escalation of the conflict, because defeat also means financial loss.”
Referring to Brussels’ approach, Orban said: “Brussels’ war logic is intensifying. It is not slowing down or easing; on the contrary, it is becoming institutionalized. Today the risk is greater than ever, because the continuation of the war is now linked to financial interests.”
Orban concluded: “Hungary is not consciously entering this dangerous path. We are not participating in initiatives that attract those who want to prolong the war. We are not seeking a fast track to war, but an exit toward peace. This is not isolationism, but strategic common sense – in Hungary’s interest and, in the long run, Europe’s as well.”
