Istanbul, July 28 (Hibya) – U.S. markets showed mixed performance on the first trading day of the week, with selling pressure in technology stocks drawing attention. While the Dow Jones ended the day higher, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 posted modest declines.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.51 percent to 52,210.08 points, while the S&P 500 closed 0.02 percent higher at 7,413.18. The technology-heavy Nasdaq declined 0.18 percent to 24,932.08 points. U.S. 500 futures traded 0.24 percent lower at 7,395.40, while U.S. 30 futures remained broadly unchanged at 52,208.60.
The VIX Index, widely followed as a gauge of market volatility, climbed 0.48 percent to 18.67, while the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) edged up 0.02 percent to 101.40.
Among the day's most actively traded stocks, Nvidia (NVDA) stood out with a trading volume of 154.35 million shares, although the stock fell 4.99 percent. Intel (INTC) declined 0.70 percent with a trading volume of 133.25 million shares. Apple (AAPL), meanwhile, outperformed with a gain of 1.17 percent.
Selling pressure became more pronounced in the semiconductor sector. AMD shares dropped 5.17 percent, Micron (MU) fell 2.25 percent and SanDisk (SNDK) lost 11.02 percent. Electric vehicle maker Tesla (TSLA) ended the session down 1.22 percent.
Analysts said profit-taking in technology stocks continued to weigh on the major indexes, while investors remained focused on macroeconomic data and corporate earnings reports.
