Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that he held a long and friendly phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Tajani said, “Our joint efforts for peace continue. I confirmed the U.S. support for mediation efforts in Gaza.”

He noted that they discussed the situation in Venezuela, particularly the detention of Alberto Trentini and other Italian political prisoners, adding: “We are working tirelessly for their release.”

Tajani concluded: “I thank Minister Rubio and the U.S. State Department for their determination to secure the swift release of all political prisoners in Venezuela.”
