Rome, December 13 (Hibya) – Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reiterated Italy’s full support for lasting peace in Gaza during his meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Tajani stated that the meeting took place in a long and extremely friendly atmosphere. In his statement, he emphasized that Italy strongly supports the Palestinian National Authority, ongoing reforms and efforts in the field of security, adding that his country will continue humanitarian assistance within the framework of the Food For Gaza initiative.
Noting that Italy has so far received around 1,500 people, Tajani said that his country ranks first in Europe in medical evacuations, under which more than 230 Palestinian children have been treated in Italian hospitals.
Antonio Tajani stressed that Italy will continue to work in line with a political perspective aimed at a two-state solution, for a future in which the Israeli and Palestinian peoples can live together in peace.
