Guterres: Reforming the Security Council is essential
New York, 19 January (Hibya) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres stated that carrying out reforms in the UN Security Council is an inevitable necessity.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres made remarks on the functioning of the global system and the structure of the Security Council.
Emphasizing the need to reform the Council, Guterres said: “Reforming the Security Council is not only important, it is essential. Those who cling to their privileges today risk paying the price tomorrow.”
Calling on the international community to act and to show determination for change, Guterres added: “We must all be brave enough to dare to change. The world is not waiting. Neither should we.”
