Earnings drive U.S. stocks: International Paper jumps while Intel tumbles
Istanbul, July 27 (Hibya) – Company-specific moves dominated U.S. markets. International Paper, Smurfit WestRock and SLB ended the day with double-digit gains, while Intel, Sandisk and Coherent shares came under heavy selling pressure. Intel also ranked first in trading volume.
Corporate earnings releases and company-related news triggered sharp stock-specific price movements in U.S. equity markets.
Among the top gainers of the day were International Paper, up 11.21%, Smurfit WestRock, up 11.10%, SLB, up 11.01%, Digital Realty Trust, up 11.01%, and Packaging Corporation of America, up 8.76%.
Stocks facing the heaviest selling pressure included Sandisk, down 10.79%, Coherent Corp, down 9.84%, CH Robinson Worldwide, down 9.25%, Lumentum Holdings, down 8.48%, and Intel, down 7.89%, making them the day's biggest losers.
In terms of trading volume, Intel ranked first with approximately 181.1 million shares traded. It was followed by BITO (158.8 million), Nokia (119.1 million), Nvidia (114.8 million), and LiveWire Group (LVWR) (105 million).
Meanwhile, stocks posting unusually high trading volumes also drew investors' attention. LiveWire Group (LVWR) shares traded at nearly 90 times their normal volume, while the stock price surged 89.61%. SAFT shares climbed 41.49%, with trading volume reaching about 16 times their average over the past 10 trading days.
Investors continue to closely monitor earnings season results and company-specific developments, with high stock-specific volatility expected to persist in the coming trading sessions.
