Budrys: The EU must also be a geoeconomic actor
Vilnius, October 14 (Hibya) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys said that the European Union (EU) should not only be a geopolitical actor but also a geoeconomic one.
Foreign Minister Budrys stated that the EU must act not only as a geopolitical actor but also as a geoeconomic player.
He emphasized that developing an economic security doctrine at a level where everyone agrees on the need for proactive action is crucial, adding:
“Not only to defend ourselves but also to shape the environment around us. Otherwise, instead of moving quickly, we risk getting stuck in endless debates, consultations, and discussions. Our competitors are already taking advantage of the European Union’s slowness.”
Budrys highlighted the importance of economic security and the doctrine that underpins it.
