Trump says Maduro’s days are numbered
Washington, November 3 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump sent mixed signals regarding a potential U.S. intervention in Venezuela, easing fears of an imminent war against the South American nation, while declaring that Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro’s days are numbered.
Asked during CBC’s *60 Minutes* whether the United States would go to war with Venezuela, Trump said, “I don’t think so. I don’t believe that.” But when asked if Maduro’s days as president were numbered, he replied, “Yes, I think so.”
His remarks came as the U.S. continues its attacks on boats in the Caribbean suspected of drug trafficking. The Trump administration says these operations are necessary to stop the flow of drugs into the United States.
Trump dismissed claims that the campaign is aimed not at stopping drugs but at toppling Maduro, his longtime rival, saying it was “about many things.”
