Schoof: Hybrid threats are now part of daily life
Amsterdam, 27 November (Hibya) – Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said that a lot is happening in the world and that these developments have direct effects on the security of the Netherlands.
Prime Minister Schoof stated that hybrid threats have now become part of daily life, emphasizing that global events have direct impacts on the security of the Netherlands.
He drew attention to the need for societies and state structures to be resilient against these threats and said:
“This requires action not only from the government but from society as a whole. People are expected to be prepared for long-term system disruptions and to manage on their own at home for the first 72 hours (three days). But we are also looking at companies and social organizations, which play a critical role in the resilience of our society.”
Schoof stated that this is why the cabinet organized the first Geopolitical and Resilience Council, bringing together representatives from Gasunie, KPN, the Port of Rotterdam, Tennet, MKB Nederland, VNO-NCW, VNG, AMS-IX, EnergyNL, the Red Cross, the Dutch Food Industry Federation and Alliander.
