Palestine calls on the international community
Jerusalem, December 18 (Hibya) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on international institutions to fulfill their responsibilities.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, the European Union, the United Nations and its specialized agencies, including UNESCO, as well as the High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions, stressing that these bodies must assume their “legal and moral responsibilities.”
The statement demanded, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 904, the disarmament of settlers and an immediate halt to their arming. It also stated that Israel must be held accountable for inciting elements in its official educational curriculum.
The ministry called for “an end to policies of collective punishment,” including the withholding of Palestinian funds, for “urgent and effective international protection” for the Palestinian people, and for ensuring accountability for those responsible for settlement crimes, systematic violence, war crimes and acts of genocide.
The ministry warned that impunity for the perpetrators and those responsible for these crimes “further escalates tensions” and seriously undermines the foundations of peace, security and stability in the region.
