Mayor killed in Mexico
Stockholm, November 3 (Hibya) – A Mexican mayor who had called for “brute force” against the country’s drug cartels was shot dead in public during “Day of the Dead” celebrations in his hometown on Saturday night.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the outspoken mayor of Uruapan in Michoacán state, Carlos Manzo (40), was shot dead by two gunmen in the city’s main square in front of his shocked supporters.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum wrote on X: “I strongly condemn the cowardly murder of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and the people of Uruapan for this irreparable loss.”
