Lazzarini: One pain is being added to another
New York, 15 November (Hibya) — Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), made a statement regarding the harsh weather conditions and shelter needs in Gaza.
Lazzarini noted that the weather in Gaza is cold and rainy, saying: “Displaced people are now facing a harsh winter without the basic necessities to protect them from the rain and cold.”
He added: “One pain is being added to another. Fragile shelters are filling rapidly with water, people’s belongings are getting soaked. There is an urgent need for more shelter materials for the people of Gaza. UNRWA’s supplies are waiting outside, pending approval. Let us bring them in.”
