Araghchi noted that the relations between Iran and Sweden had experienced growth, saying: “Iranian businesses valued Swedish brands like Scania and Volvo, and there was plenty of travel and other interactions. But over the past decade, we have seen an unfortunate shift.”

He stated that on April 30, arsonists damaged diplomatic facilities, and added: “Surprisingly, Swedish authorities also decided to grant citizenship to a criminal convicted of serious violations. None of this makes sense from Iran’s perspective.”

Araghchi emphasized: “I am proud of the important Iranian community in Sweden. They have contributed much to both our countries and their relations. Iranian businesses are eager to engage in lawful trade for our mutual benefit. It is time to move past tired rhetoric and open a new chapter.”
