WHO team attacked in Ukraine
Geneva, October 15 (Hibya) – The World Health Organization (WHO) team in Ukraine was attacked during a mission carried out jointly with a United Nations (UN) convoy.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the staff were safe and that the team had completed the delivery of medical supplies to the city of Bilozerka.
In a post on social media, Ghebreyesus said that two trucks belonging to the World Food Programme (WFP) were damaged during the attack.
“We cannot repeat often and loudly enough that humanitarian workers must not be targeted. Attacks on humanitarian personnel must stop,” Ghebreyesus said, emphasizing that attacks on humanitarian organizations operating in conflict zones are unacceptable.
