Saar’s Statement on Palestine and the Peace Process
Jerusalem, September 8 (Hibya) – Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Saar, during a meeting with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, stated that the Palestinian Authority is not fulfilling its security and counter-terrorism obligations, criticizing certain states.
Israeli Foreign Minister Saar, in a statement after meeting his Danish counterpart Rasmussen, emphasized that the Palestinian Authority is not fulfilling its obligations under the Oslo Accords.
Saar said:
“In the Oslo Accords they said they would fight terrorism – they never did; they promised to ensure security – they never did. Secondly, by paying salaries to terrorists and their families, they reward and encourage terrorism through the ‘Pay to Slay’ doctrine.”
Saar also noted that some states ignore these realities, adding:
“No one should ignore this reality on the ground in Judea and Samaria and in the Gaza Strip, and demand that Israel risk its future and security. We will absolutely not do that.”
