Meloni issues memorial message for victims of the Nassiriya attack
Rome, November 12 (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni issued a message on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for Soldiers and Civilians Who Lost Their Lives in International Peacekeeping Missions.
Meloni recalled the terrorist attack that occurred 22 years ago in the Iraqi city of Nassiriya, where 28 people, including 19 Italians, lost their lives. “On this occasion, I once again thank all those who serve in peace missions and risk their lives for our security,” she said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the soldiers and civilians who died in Nassiriya “sacrificed their lives for Italy, with honor and a strong sense of duty.”
“They were sons of the nation; they set out with courage, carrying the values of peace, honor, and service. Our gratitude and respect for them and their families will last forever. We will never forget their sacrifice,” Meloni concluded.
