Guterres: Climate shocks increase humanitarian needs and migration risks
New York, November 12 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres stated that climate change, combined with conflicts, has displaced millions of people and called for urgent climate action.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized that climate-related shocks are increasing humanitarian needs and the risk of displacement. He said: “Millions of displaced people are trapped in a vicious cycle of conflicts and climate extremes. A new UNHCR (Refugees) report highlights the urgent need for climate action and financing that reaches the most vulnerable.”
Guterres stressed the importance of ensuring that the international community channels climate resources and aid to the communities most in need.
