Ghebreyesus: Today marks the start of World AMR Awareness Week
Geneva, 18 November (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that today marks the beginning of World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that today marks the start of World AMR Awareness Week. He emphasized that AMR is not a future problem but a current crisis that causes more than one million deaths each year and undermines decades of medical progress.
Ghebreyesus noted that with the right policies, people and health systems can be protected, adding: “Let’s act now. Let’s protect our present. Let’s secure our future.”
