Albanese: The police officers who lost their lives were heroes
Canberra, September 8 (Hibya) – Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spoke at the ceremony honoring Chief Inspector Detective Neal Thompson and Chief Inspector Vadim De Waart-Hottart, who were killed in the line of duty.
Prime Minister Albanese attended the memorial ceremony held after the loss of two members of the police force.
In his speech, Albanese emphasized that every day when police officers put on their uniforms, they put themselves at risk for society.
Albanese said: “Today and last Friday, we gathered to honor the courage of Chief Inspector Detective Neal Thompson and Chief Inspector Vadim De Waart-Hottart,” noting that police officers are valuable to society not only through their duty but also as sons, brothers, husbands, or friends.
About the fallen officers, the Prime Minister said: “They were heroes. They will be remembered as heroes by their colleagues, their loved ones, and all Australians. They served with honor.”
Condolences were extended to the families and the police at the ceremony.
